RESTORE OUR EARTH
The month of April sees several days dedicated to wildlife, and Earth Day (20-22 April) reminds us more than ever that the climate crisis affects both humans and wildlife everywhere. Take a look at this month’s Global Awareness feature to find out more about the dedicated days and how you can get involved.
On the theme of looking after our planet and wildlife, where better to take you than on a journey of discovery to the Great Bear Rainforest in Canada? Wild Planet reader and nature photographer, Jon Handforth, goes in search of spirit bears in the unforgiving wilderness in our Wild Location article.
This month we have an exciting guest in our Interview series - Spanish wildlife photographer and conservation biologist, Victor Ortega, speaks to Matthew Maran about his wonderfully ethereal wildlife photography and tells us why restrictions to travel are not affecting his work.
We are delighted to share the winning entries from WildArt Photographer of the Year’s first completed category ‘Wet’ with you - I was extremely pleased to be asked to choose my favourite from the shortlist as well, which you can see in our WAPOTY ‘Wet Winners’ feature. Many congratulations to all of the winners, who also get a free 12-issue subscription to Wild Planet Photo Magazine on top of their prize from the competition. We will be featuring the category winners each month, so keep a look out for all of the categories over the coming year.
Last month, we set you the task to send us your best wildlife images that depict colour and vibrancy in our very own monthly Photo Challenge - and you did not disappoint! Read on to see our favourites and to give yourself some colour inspiration of your own.
With all this talk of photography competitions, Wild Planet reader and amateur wildlife photographer, Stephen Smith, tells how there is everything to gain and nothing to lose in our Au Natural article.
With that said, our next photo challenge is our yearly seasonal topic ‘Spring Visions’. We want to see the beauty of wildlife in their spring habitat with flowers blossoming, adorable newborns and insects-a-plenty - anything that signifies spring, or shows signs of a seasonal shift in the wildlife world. Upload your entries before 23rd April 2021 and you could WIN $100 - https://wildplanetphotomagazine.com/vision/spring-visions/
Let us showcase your best images both in the magazine and across our social media platforms throughout the month. Upload your images to be in with a chance of winning - https://wildplanetphotomagazine.com/category/reader-content/
