How To Read The New Magazine

Access all articles at any time

The new magazine design articles can be read online. They will be available to you at any time you wish to read them, day or night, for as long as your membership is active. Simply visit the article you wish to read and make sure you are logged in.


Offline Reading

If you wish to keep the magazine articles handy for offline reading in the case that you do not have internet connection, use one of the methods below.

Save the magazine and all articles on Firefox browser

1) Add the ScrapBook extension to your Firefox browser. This will add the Scrapbook button to the Firefox navigation bar (see screenshot on the right).

2) Visit the latest issue page on the website via Firefox. Make sure you are logged in at this point.

3) Click on the ScrapBook button in the navigation bar, a drop-down menu will appear, choose 'Save Page As'. You can also click 'Show in Sidebar'. This will allow to access all saved issues as well as the ScrapBook settings on a sidebar (see screenshot on the right).

4) On the slide-down window alter the settings as per our screenshot on the right, give the file a unique name, add it to the ScrapBook root folder or create your own, and click Save. Please note: By choosing 'Depth to follow links 1', you will save all articles attached to that issue. If you choose 2, you will also save external links inside those articles, which is something that you should not do, unless you want to.

5) At this point a popup window will appear and download will commence. You can pause the download, untick links that you might not want to save and click Start. The browser will take a few minutes to save the entire magazine issue and all its articles. Once saved, you can keep it for ever for offline read.

6) You can access the saved issue from the ScrapBook drop-down menu or the ScrapBook sidebar.

7) Repeat above procedure to save all future issues of the magazine.


Save individual articles on your browser

On desktop computer or laptop: the magazine articles will be available to read at any time you wish to do so. However, if you wish to save the magazine and all it's articles to your machine, it is very simple. Open up your browser and navigate to the article page you wish to save. Important: at this point you need to make sure you are logged in. Go to File > Save Page As and save it somewhere in your documents. You'll get an HTML file and a folder full of images and other data contained within. When you want to read the article, just double-click on the HTML file and you should be able to see it just as it was when you saved it, whether you have an internet connection or not.


iOS devices • Save the magazine and all articles in 1 click

iPad, iPhone • Download the Offline Pages app and setup username and password for that app. Open up the app on your device and visit the 'latest issue' page. Important: at this point you need to make sure you are logged in. Click the save icon (box with arrow on top) and scroll to 'save to' Offline Pages app. It will take a few minutes to download the entire issue to the app. When it’s ready you will be able to access the entire magazine. Click on the featured image or article caption in the table of contents. That opens the feature/article. Click the 'back' icon to return to the magazine page after reading the article. Then you can access the next feature/article in the same way.

The app will automatically update the page regularly if you have an internet connection, so you can stay on top of the latest information. Check out the options menus when you go to save a page to tweak the settings to your liking.

Offline Pages Pro App


Android devices • Save the magazine and all articles in 1 click

1) Download the app and setup username and password or whatever else in needed for that app.
2) Open up the app.
3) Visit the 'latest issue' page on the website (via the app).
4) At this point, you need to make sure you are logged in.
5) Tap the plus sign to add the latest issue to the app's library. This will save the magazine page and all articles within it for offline read. Remember that it will take a few minutes to download the entire issue to the app.

The app will automatically update the page regularly if you have an internet connection, so you can stay on top of the latest information. Check out the options menus when you go to save a page to tweak the settings to your liking.

Offline Browser App


Alternative App

Read It Later is an alternative you can use to read any web content offline. What makes Read It Later stand out is the integration with many other apps that are available on the market including Pulse and Flipboard. This makes it easier to save any content from other apps straight to Read It Later, so you can read these contents later even when you are offline. You can also import contents from Instapaper and Delicious. What makes it more interesting is the user collaboration towards making Read It Later a better product, with many external applications created by the users themselves.

To start with, register for a Read It Later account and go to the apps page to download all the necessary tools including bookmarklet, browser extension as well as mobile apps. Read It Later is available for all browsers, as well as for mobile on iOS and Android. You can use all the tools to save files. For offline reading, all files will sync automatically to your mobile apps so you can read them even when you are offline.

There are many free apps on the market that will allow you to save our magazine articles in the case you wish to read them offline. It is up to you to choose which is best for your needs.
