Perfect Bokeh by Fenton Cotterill
[post-views]

Fenton Cotterill from South Africa
Born in Zimbabwe, where I worked in Bulawayo’s Natural History Museum until 2004, I am a Scientist with peregrinatory field experience exploring fourteen African countries and published widely in biology and geology. My passion for photography began in 1984 and has intensified since 2015.

Like all the small antelopes, the grey duiker, (Sylvicapra grimmia), is a most challenging subject to photograph with any success outside of a hide or vehicle. All their senses are acute. This applies particularly where they encounter humans on foot. In regular walks along the Eerste River, in the Cape Winelands, I almost always see signs of duiker, as their spoor is unmistakable, and the neat, little hoof-prints were one of the first I learnt to recognise as a young boy growing up in rural Zimbabwe...

Grey duiker, Western Cape, South Africa, Nikon D850, 700mm, 500mm f5.6E PF VR Nikkor and TC14E III, f/8, 1/800sec, ISO 9000
