Eastern Blue Butterfly, Virunga National Park, DR Congo by Ricardo Ferreira

Besides the ongoing problems and the enormous difficulties the Congolese people face, when we think about Virunga National Park, in DR Congo the first thing that comes to our minds is probably the mountain gorillas. Nonetheless, there’s so much more than that. The biodiversity is astonishing beautiful, especially if we stop to admire the little things. This Eastern Blue Mother-of-Pearl butterfly was around my tent every morning as if it was greeting me before each outing. I love particularly the contrast between its blue and the white flowers, like a painting beautifully created by an artist.
