Bear, Grouse Mountain, Vancouver, Canada by Christian Core

Picture Story

I love bears, incredibly beautiful animals, I could spend hours watching them.
I live in British Columbia, and I often go alone in the woods with my Sigma 150 / 600mm in search of these big animals. Most of the time I meet black bears, and I'm always happy to photograph them, I like that "zen phase" of patience and enthusiasm, excitement but in the calm and silence, where I sit far away and wait for an ideal light and position.
I took this picture of the "sitting grizzly" in a famous grizzly reserve in Grouse Mountain, in North Vancouver, where a couple of Grizzlies live.
In this specific case, this grizzly lives protected, because it was saved as a cub, but in places like Canada it's very important for all of us to learn to live with these incredible animals, with no fear, because they often approach houses, often people get scared and sometimes it happens that they take them away or, worse, suppress them because they can be a danger.
This we must avoid, because we have decided to live in their habitat, and they deserve all our utmost respect and protection.
