I recently had an amazing trip to Skomer island (Wales,UK) to photograph these extremely cute and fascinating birds – The Atlantic Puffins. Their colourful and slightly clown-like appearance makes them immediately recognisable. Their short wings are used for ‘flying’ underwater in search of fish. Large wings would be a disadvantage, but small wings make flying in the air more difficult and they must beat their wings rapidly to stay aloft. This means they can reach speeds of up to 55 mph!
This make them very difficult to capture in flight, but after a few failed attempts I was able to capture this image of one of these very beautiful birds in flight.[the_ad id="58356"]
