GDT European Wildlife Photographer of the Year 2019
This competition is open for photographers residing within Europe and for GDT members.
Like no other contest the competition European Wildlife Photographer of the Year of the GDT (Society of German Wildlife Photographers) represents the high quality and specific style of European wildlife photography. In creative image compositions, surprising subjects and unusual perspectives the results of this competition display the nature around us in touching images and support the idea of nature conservation through the means of photography. Authenticity is the highest precept for all the photographs.

There will be cash prizes of 800 Euro resp. 500 Euro for the winners as well as the runners-up of each category. The overall winner will receive 3 000 Euro in cash provided by CANON. There will be 29,000 EUR worth of prizes altogether!

The winning photographs of this well-known competition will be presented to the public for the first time in an initial exhibition at the International Nature Photography Festival in Lünen (25 – 27 October 2019). After the festival the exhibition will be shown at various venues in Germany, Belgium, France, Spain and other European countries. All photographers whose pictures are selected will receive the exhibition catalogue as well as free tickets for the International Nature Photography Festival in Lünen. Photographs can be entered in nine different categories (Birds, Mammals, Other Animals, Plants and Fungi, Landscapes, The Underwater World, Man and Nature, Nature’s Studio and Young Photographers).

Fritz Pölking Prize and Fritz Pölking Junior Prize 2019
This competition is open for photographers worldwide.
In recognition of GDT founder member Fritz Pölking, who died in 2007, Tecklenborg publishing house in cooperation with the GDT annually presents the Fritz Pölking Prize and Fritz Pölking Junior Prize within the context of the GDT EWPY competition. These prizes will be awarded for extraordinary work in the field of wildlife photography. This may either be a unique wildlife photography project or a portfolio of individual photographs.

Winner Fritz Pölking Prize 2018

The winner of the Fritz Pölking Prize will receive 2 000 Euro in cash donated by Tecklenborg publishing house.
The Fritz Pölking Junior Prize offers young photographers up to 23 years of age the possibility to win 1 500 Euro in cash (donated by Tecklenborg publishing house) as well as a merchandise voucher worth 500 Euro (donated by AC-Foto).

The winners of the Fritz Pölking Prize and the Fritz Pölking Junior Prize will also be honoured at the GDT International Nature Photography Festival in Lünen, and their images will be shown for the first time within the framework of the GDT EWPY 2019 exhibition.
