John McIlvaine from the USA
My name is John McIlvaine and I am a travel, landscape and wildlife photographer from Issaquah, Washington. I was born in the Seattle area and have lived here most of my life. The Pacific Northwest holds such a variety of wildlife and landscapes that it makes photographing it incredibly rewarding. My passion for photography came about at a young and has since led me to shooting photographs around the world.

What is it about photographing animals that you love?
Ever since I was a child I have been obsessed with nature. I have always had a fascination with all wildlife, big and small. What I love most about photographing animals is it gives you the chance to observe them and lets you see things you normally wouldn't see or might not notice.

Photographing animals takes patience and you get to see behaviours, feelings, emotions, and personalities you wouldn't notice with just seeing them quickly. It also gives me a chance to get outdoors and explore new areas of the world.

What species of wildlife would you most like to photograph and why?
I have always loved big cats, they have always fascinated me. It's a dream of mine to photograph tigers in the wild. They're so elusive and powerful I would love to witness them in the wild.
