I am a general surgeon by profession with an interest in travel and nature photography. I started birding as a past time as I was just curious to identify birds by their name. Later interest was photographing and documenting, and then travel and bird photography became more serious. I hope to pass on the message of conserving nature for the next generation.

A ten day leisure trip with family to South Africa had been planned for a few months. We had only two days for a game drive in Kwantu game reserve. We expected to meet the big five during the safari.

Although we were able to see the grazing zebra, giraffe, wildebeast, springbok, impala, rhino and hippo, it was hard to find the predators. Finally, during our second drive, we were lucky to meet a male lion which moved into the bushes when it saw our safari jeep. Our guide told us that it was an old injured lion which had to leave its pride when another male took over. I managed to snap a picture through the bushes. A lion king with a lost kingdom but still with its majestic look. I was extremely excited for my first lion picture from the African wildness.
